Butterfly On A Wheel

A friend of mine shared to me his thoughts about the movie he saw just recently. I was surprised that he called me just to tell me about his thoughts on the last movie he saw. But since he is such a good friend, so I just allowed him to pour his thoughts on what I first thought of as a petty outburst.

It turns out, I was in for an emotional confession. Yes, a man who confessed his deepest secret to me out of a Pierce Brosnan movie. Weird, isn't it?

But then I was actually thankful for the talk. It has been a long time since I sawmy friend like that. Sincere and broken. The very elements that I seldom find in men these days.

I also kind of amazed at how powerful the media is in influencing people's lives. I hope there will be more movies like this that actually delivers compelling message about family, trust, and love.

Donda West died of plastic surgery complications

Kanye West's Mom, Donda West, died from complications of plastic surgery. This is quite a sad news to Kanye and to his family and friends.

I have nothing against plastic surgery but I guess people should really think twice before they even think of altering their bodies for whatever reason. Plastic surgery is a major operation which carries risks and complications. It is quite dangerous to put your life on the line just for the sake of looking good.

My sympathies to the West family for this tragic event.

Jewel, are those breast implants?

This is not one of Jewel's best moments. She is a fine-looking girl but this she looks wretched in this pic. It must be because of those breast implants that don't look so good. Or are they? They are too small to be implants. Perhaps Jewel was just using a push-up bra. But then again, if she was, then she must have done it the wrong way.

I have seen a lot of female celebrities wearing a push-up bra and they looked so good in them.

The Invasion

The Invasion has Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in the cast. I should commend Nicole for a job well done. She is very effective for the role and I think she really should at least get a nomination from this. Daniel Craig, on the other hand, didn't shine in this movie. Perhaps because of the hairstyle or something, I am not really sure. He must have been confined in the small role he has to play. His lines were very limited then.

The Invasion is based on the famous novel Body Snatchers and I think the film director did a decent job of capturing the novel's best moments. It was indeed scary to note that you will become a different person once you contract the virus.

Here's the synopsis of the movie:
A space shuttle mysteriously crashes on Earth, and an extraterrestrial disease in the wreckage begins infecting human beings. A psychiatrist from Washington, D.C., Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman), and her colleague Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig) discover that the transformation caused by the infection is triggered by REM sleep, robbing the victims of their humanity. As the infection spreads, fewer people can be trusted. Fighting to stay awake, Carol looks for her son, who may hold the answer to stopping the invasion.
I think the movie is great and I enjoyed it very much.

Eddie Murphy is a good father

From justjared:
Deadbeat daddy Eddie Murphy defends himself to Entertainment Tonight via a statement on his behalf.

“Eddie Murphy always has and will continue to honor his responsibilities as a father. Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort. He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy. Mr. Murphy views this as a private matter and as such, will not be making any further comments about it.”

In a press conference earlier this week, Mel B’s attorney Gloria Allred alleged that Eddie has not paid a penny in financial support.

I can't stand this guy. I mean he looks funny on TV and on the big screen but considering that he lied about the child support is beyond me. He even got the nerve to defend himself when he clearly isn't doing anything to prove that he is a good father to his children.

I don't know. I just couldn't understand why guys like him even have children.

Jessica looks hot on the cover of Harper's Bazaar

Jessica Simpson has gone through a lot already in her personal life and career but still she remains proud and sexy despite all of it. Come to think of it. Her movies flopped and her recent album didn't do very well on the sales and hit charts department. But still, you can see her everywhere, as if she is the most famous star of all.

Jessica doesn't look bad. She is indeed a beautiful woman. But I think she has to do something more with her life in order to gain the respect that she deserves. I think she is a good girl. And the fact that we don't see her partying hard, drinking booze and all that, that's a good sign she won't become the next Britney or Lindsay.

I hope to see more of this girl's talent. Sans the slutty roles and image.

Paris Hilton will be receiving special treatment

TMZ reports that Paris Hilton's cell mate has already been selected. Poor girl. An inmate who is doing time for reckless driving will be Paris' official company inside the cell. Sources tell TMZ that jailers were looking for someone who believe will not try to cash in on Hilton's stay. The woman is said to be already inside the cell waiting for Paris' arrival.

TMZ's sources say a "written protocol" has already been prepared especially for Paris' stay, detailing "when and how things should be done for her."

It looks like Paris Hilton is gonna be receiving some special pampering from the jailguards after all. Well, I don't really want something bad to happen to the heiress but I just don't like the fact that when you're rich and famous, you get to stay in jail the same way that you stay in a hotel. Well, justice is served for her but then again, the special treatment is a huge taint of injustice still.

Jordin Sparks - American Idol 6 champ

Jordin Sparks is the newest addition to the American Idol family of champs joining Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Hicks. She is also the youngest person to win the title, beating out beatboxer Blake Lewis.

A record of 74 millions votes were cast and proclaimed Jordin as the winner.

The Final Two sang the song This Is My Now, which won the songwriting competition. Obviously, Jordin's version was better because the song is made for belting. Blake was at an obvious disadvantage.

Congratulations, Jordin!!!

Sanjaya is finally out

It was a bit surprising to see Lakisha Jones in the bottom two this week in American Idol. I know Lakisha didn't give a very good performance but I just didn't think the people would deprive her their votes. Lucky for her though, Sanjaya Malakar was sent packing to the delight and dismay of the many people.

Well, of course those who have been aching to see Sanjaya go were delighted. They have always been claiming that the dude has no talent. That he can't sing. That he is tone-deaf.

On the other side of the fence are the Sanjaya fans who have been supporting their idol from day one. Sanjaya is a good-looking kid and has charisma. He just lacks the singing prowess that the show is trying to find.

Now Simon can feel good knowing that he doesn't have to fulfill his promise of quitting the show once Sanjaya wins.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li in one movie? Cool!

I have always been a fan of kung fu movies. I like Jackie Chan and I love Jet Li. And it seems my appetite for such genre would all the more be sated because two of the world's greatest martial arts actors are gonna team up for a one big action movie.

Variety says that the two are going to star in a Lions Gate movie, The Forbidden Kingdom.
Lionsgate has boarded martial-arts actioner "The Forbidden Kingdom," which pairs Jackie Chan and Jet Li for the first time on the big screen.

Based on the Chinese legend of the monkey king, story revolves around an American teenager who discovers the king's legendary stick weapon in a pawn shop. Teen is transported back in time to ancient China, where he joins a crew of warriors fighting to free the imprisoned king.

Li is set to play two roles, that of the monkey king and the silent monk. Chan will pay the monk T'sa-Ho.
I can't wait to see this film in the theater. These two guys know how to kick ass and I sure don't wanna miss seeing that.

The Resurrection

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. (NIV)

Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. (NLT)

Romans 6:8-11
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Rejoice!! The Lord Lives!

Halle Berry had her own share of low moments

Halle Berry is the epitome of a beautiful and successful woman. At least for me, she is. But with that exquisite beauty and a successful career, it is surprising to believe that she almost took her life because of one guy.

Here's what she said People mag about that experience:
Berry, 40, admits to Parade magazine that she tried to gas herself when her fiery union to Atlanta Braves baseball star David Justice collapsed, but pulled out at the last minute.

"I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me," she tells the magazine.

The image of her stoic mother Judith, now 67, was enough to snap the blues out of Berry. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low," Berry says. "I promised myself I would never be a coward again."

At least she was able to learn the lesson. Even celebrities have their lowest points. That makes them human. That brings them back to the same level we all are on.

Angelina adopts again

Here's something from the Playfuls:
The newest Jolie-Pitt kid will bring proud mom Angelina and dad Brad a reported $2 million for appearing in a magazine.

Looks like Angelina has agreed to sell pictures of her new son to People magazine for between $1.75 million and $2 million, according to Radar magazine.

Although a People spokesperson has described that figure as “absurd,” the rumors continue. The spokesperson added, “We don't comment on the specifics on any negotiations,” fueling further speculation.

Intimate pictures of mother and child are now appearing on the front cover of Hello magazine after they were given exclusive access to Angelina's family album. Pax is shown becoming acquainted with sister Zahara and falling asleep next to new brother Maddox.
Okay, so is the reason why Angie and Brad keep on adopting kids? I really have no problem with them adopting kids from wherever but to monetize their act of love is something that I am against. I hope the money really goes to charity as what reports have mentioned. I don't want to be a jackass and put malice to them giving some homeless child some food and shelter and love as long as they spare the act from publicity and monetary affairs.

300 earns 70 Million on its first week

I saw 300 and it was indeed a great film. Not that deep but it sure is packed with a lot of goodies.

It is no wonder then that 300 did a landslide in the box-office. Yahoo Movies has this details to prove just that.

'300'

My friends are raving about their movie experience with 300. They said the CGI is just impressive and though there's a lot more to be done in order for the film to be totally excellent, it was still one helluva movie.

One of my comrades even told me that 300 is heavily laden with testosterone. Troy and all its manly characters would turn gay if compared to what 300 has exhibited. Geez, I still haven't seen the film and these comments just made me want to watch it all the more.

Anyway, here are some pics from the film.

I am glad the Oscars actually gave credit to this excellent documentary. Kudos to Al Gore and all those who made the film possible. Nice job guys!

The inconvenient truth

I recently saw a clip from a site that seeks to inform everyone about an incovenient truth. And I must say I got really moved by the short clip. To say it was inconvenient is an understatement. It was intense!

Global warming is everybody's concern but it seems that only a few take notice. Only a few have that genuine concern for the environment. That's why I admire the people behind this thrust to educate the people about the fate of Mother Earth. I hate to say fate because I don't want this to be the real end of the planet but as far as I can see, we are really heading that way. A very inconvenient truth, that is.

I suggest you guys watch the video and learn something from it. I just hope it isn't too late yet for us to take action and save the planet from this impending destruction.

Happy Hearts Day! Everyday!

The first time I met my wife, I knew fully well that she was the one for me. And the moment that I kissed her lips, I am fully aware that she will be with me for the rest of my life. The feeling was incredible. It's as if I have been transported into another place and time, where sorrow and loneliness don't exist. Truly, love masks away life's flaws and makes all of us appreciate how beautiful life is.

Valentines Day is over but it should not be. In fact, there shouldn't be an exact date to celebrate love. We should do this everyday! Wouldn't it be so good to give love and feel loved on a daily basis? If everyone in this world does that, I don't think there will be violence. When everyone feels loved, I don't think there will be crimes. The world be the paradise that we want it to be when we just allow love to grow and flourish. When love is all around, what can go wrong? Right?

Happy Hearts Day! Everyday!

My wish for a better world

I am not going to fill this blog with emotional crap about various things in life that are often beyond my control. But as I read about this series of executions of Saddam Hussein and his allies of which one was decapitated, I can't help but renew my wish for a better world. A world free from all these social maladies and a world that thrives on love, hope, and camaraderie. But considering that this wish would always remain a wish and that I am pretty sure I won't be seeing my wish getting fulfilled in my lifetime, this just makes the whole thing a lot hopeless.

It is of my knowledge that there are things I cannot change and this I have to accept. What pains me more is that nobody is serious about putting this horrible violence to an end. Much as I want my grand grandchildren to live a happy and peaceful life in the future, I just can't be so sure that I would be able to give that to them considering the current situation.

I get a little depressed everytime I read stuff like that. This is the reason why I don't want to read news these days, but just can't help it when my folks talk about it over dinner.

The world, I know, is going to get a lot worse and as much as I don't want that to happen, I am powerless over it's will. What I can do is to take care of the things that I have been given and love the people that are close to my heart.

Hello World!

Whew! I should have done this a long time ago. I know I am not that young anymore to blog but I don't give a damn. I don't think there is ever a rule in blogging concerning age? LOL. Can someone be too old to blog? Hahaha, the fact that I can still read and type and blog speaks volumes of my capability to do a lot of things, still.

Anyway, I just realized that it is kinda off to speak about old age in the first paragraph of my very first post. But I just did, so it's there to stay. Not that I am too old to press Backspace or Delete. LOL. It's done so i'll leave it that way.

I am optimistic that I am going to like this blogging activity. I hope to update this as often as I want to. This will be the scratchpad where I jot down the things that interest me. And since I am into a lot of things, then I think I will be writing about many things as well. I just hope there would be daring souls who can afford to read the crap that I am going to write.
